Purpose

The purpose of this Toolkit is to guide and provide strategies for change to those interested in reducing the variability of care for adults living with schizophrenia in their organizations and strengthen patient outcomes and quality of life. The Toolkit format is self-led, and users will have access to information and templates on the components required to get started with implementing measurement-based care and any quality statement(s) as part of the Standards.

Through its digital, interactive and accessible format, the Toolkit will ensure an increased understanding of the value of evidence-based care and the Standards, and an uptake of the implementation of the Standards across Canada.

Overall, the main goals are to raise awareness of the Schizophrenia Quality Standards, to put implementation into action, and to accelerate the delivery of evidence-based care.

Audience

This toolkit guide is meant for individuals who can influence, advocate for, or lead efforts to implement the Schizophrenia Quality Standards, to offer the highest quality care based on the evidence, and to reduce the variability of care for adults living with schizophrenia throughout Canada.

This guide can be used by:

  • leaders and administrators, at the hospital or community level, who can influence changes to the way care is provided to people living with schizophrenia.
  • clinicians and healthcare providers (e.g. physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists) and quality improvement leads, at the hospital or community level, who are seeking to improve the quality of care for adults living with schizophrenia.
